A Message from the Speaker: Weekly Legislative Report – April 10, 2023

Florida’s fifth week of its 60-day legislative session was short but sweet, as legislators headed home for Easter weekend. The three-day work week didn’t stop them from passing a slew of controversial legislation, including bills tackling abortion, medical freedom and election reform.

In some of the biggest news of the week, Governor DeSantis signed permitless carry into law, allowing Floridians to carry concealed weapons without a permit.

The sixth week of Florida’s nine-week legislative session is upon us. On this week’s agenda: a strict bathroom bill, increased police officer rights, death penalty for child rapists, and much more – so be sure to stay tuned.
