DeSantis Challenges Trump to One-on-One Debate

SIMI VALLEY, CALIFORNIA — Ron DeSantis challenged former President Trump to a one-on-one debate during an interview last night with Sean Hannity after the second Republican debate.

“You know what, maybe we can say, since the former president didn’t come here, maybe he’d be willing to do one with you and I,” DeSantis told Hannity. “No one is entitled to anything. You can’t say, ‘Oh, there’s some poll months before.’ No. You have got to make the case. You owe it to the voters.”

WE DID EVERYTHING I PROMISED

Hannity said excitement is building over the recently announced one-on-one debate between DeSantis and California Governor Gavin Newsom, who was at the debate and described it as “maybe a vice presidential debate” at best.

The Fox News pundit told DeSantis he’d ask Trump if he’d be willing to participate in a live debate on his show.

“I’m going to show up everywhere,” DeSantis added. “I’m the guy that’s done it and in Florida, we did everything I promised. We delivered, and we’re sick of the talk with Republicans.”

DeSantis went on to explain that the two biggest issues facing the country right now are the debt and the border.

“Isn’t it time we get a leader to come in and bring this stuff to a conclusion and a landing?” DeSantis said.

Newsom, who confirmed the upcoming face-off with DeSantis on Fox News, told reporters that Trump is still the dominant force after Wednesday night’s debate.

“Either these guys come after the frontrunner and distinguish themselves, or otherwise they’re wasting everybody’s time, and I say this with a lot of respect,” Newsom said.

“There’s a reason some of the advertising’s been discounted for this debate. People don’t even wanna tune in because they know that fundamentally.”
