DES MOINES, IOWA — Ron DeSantis says he’ll be ready to “strike while the iron’s hot” and won’t waste any time on day one of his presidency. Speaking live in front of an audience with his wife, Casey, DeSantis told Iowans that managing the nation’s decline is unacceptable.
“We have to reverse that decline,” DeSantis said. “But doing that is not about me. It’s about you, and it’s about the American people. It’s that agenda that matters.”
“We’re going to take all of Biden’s executive orders and regulations and throw them in the trash can on day one,” DeSantis declared.
Prewritten executive orders to reverse Biden’s policies and proposed legislation are all a part of DeSantis’ day-one strategy. In addition, Florida’s governor says he will send thousands of political appointments to Congress for confirmation on his first day in the Oval Office.
“We’re going to declare the southern border a national emergency,” DeSantis said. “We’re going to mobilize the military, and I’m gonna handle these drug cartels if they’re bringing product in.”
DeSantis said he would authorize deadly force, including drone strikes, to hold drug cartels accountable at the southern border. In June, DeSantis revealed his detailed plan to shut down illegal entry at the southern border, build the wall and win the war against the drug cartels.
“I’m running to do something,” DeSantis said. “I’m not running to be somebody or because it’s about me.”
