DES MOINES, IOWA — A pro-DeSantis super PAC is expanding its national reach by hiring staff in 18 states in anticipation of the governor’s expected announcement for a White House run in 2024.
Never Back Down plans to hire dozens of employees based in the first 18 states on the Republican presidential primary calendar, the Associated Press reports.
The outlet called the political strategy of expanding beyond the first four early-voting states a “novel approach.”
“We are ahead of the game in expanding our operations outside of the first four primary states as the energy behind Governor Ron DeSantis to run for president and defeat Joe Biden in 2024 continues to grow,” Never Back Down spokesperson Erin Perrine said in a statement.
Perrine asserted that the bold move will leave the political action committee in a “dominant” position.
“The PAC insists it remains ‘hyper-focused’ on the early four states with considerable staffing there, including roughly a half-dozen in Iowa,” the Washington Examiner noted.
On Saturday afternoon, Ron and Casey DeSantis will speak at Congressman Randy Feenstra’s (R-IA) fundraiser in Sioux Center, Iowa. Donald Trump, meanwhile, will be hosting a rally in Des Moines just hours after Feenstra’s event wraps up.
