FORT PIERCE, FLORIDA — Ron DeSantis went off on Gavin Newsom on Thursday when asked if he would consider the California governor’s offer to debate on live TV.
“It’s interesting,” DeSantis said of the challenge. “He’s got huge problems in his state. I mean, like huge problems in his state. We all know that.”

On Monday night, Newsom told Fox News host Sean Hannity that he would debate Ron DeSantis if Hannity moderated on live TV.
“You would do a two-hour debate with Ron DeSantis?” Hannity asked.
“Make it three,” Newsom responded. “I would do it one day’s notice with no notes. I look forward to that.”
Tensions grew between the two governors after it was confirmed that a dozen migrants from the Texas border were flown to Sacramento last week by Florida’s Division of Emergency Management.
CALIFORNIA: A MISMANAGED STATE
DeSantis went on to say that from its inception, California has always been a state that gained new residents year after year – until Newsom became governor.
“California was probably the height of opportunity for middle class Americans for many, many decades in this country…people were drawn there and yet he’s the first governor that’s overseen a massive exodus out of California,” DeSantis said.
The governor said the state of California is now so mismanaged that people just can’t take it anymore. But he said with all those problems, Newsom still has a fixation on the state of Florida.
Perhaps Newsom is now jealous of the fact that under Ron DeSantis, Florida has seen record growth in both population and jobs. For 25 months straight, Florida’s job growth has outperformed the nation and the unemployment rate is the 6th lowest among the 50 states.
WILL NEWSOM CHALLENGE JOE BIDEN?
“But what I would tell him is, you know what, stop pussyfooting around,” DeSantis quipped. “Are you going to throw your hat in the ring and challenge Joe?”
“Are you going to get in and do it, or are you just going to sit on the sidelines and chirp?” DeSantis asked Newsom. “So why don’t you throw your hat in the ring and then we’ll go ahead and talk about what’s happening.”
