Fauci Returns From Retirement as Biden Cranks Up the COVID Machine

“You always have to keep an open mind with this virus, it’s fooled us before,” the controversial former NIAID director said as he once again popped up on national news networks.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Pulled out of retirement as the Biden administration cranks up the COVID machine, Dr. Anthony Fauci has begun to qualify his COVID predictions after years of inundating Americans with flip-flopping medical advice.

On Sunday, Fauci appeared on ABC, where he was asked about the possibility of a return to mask mandates. The former presidential advisor said he doesn’t envision the federal government reinstituting mask mandates – but he wouldn’t be surprised if mask “recommendations” were issued.

“I can see that if we get a significant uptick in cases that you may see the recommendation that masks be used under certain circumstances and indoor crowded settings, but I don't see there'd be certainly not federal mandates,” Facui told This Week anchor Jonathan Karl.

“There may be local organizations that may require masks, but I think what we're gonna see mostly are, if the cases go up, there might be recommendations, not mandates,” Fauci added. “There's a big difference there.”

FAUCI: “KEEP AN OPEN MIND” WITH COVID

Karl also asked Fauci about his level of concern with reports of rising COVID cases.

“I wouldn’t say I’m alarmed, but I’m certainly keeping an eye on it. There’s no doubt … we’re having an uptick in cases,” Fauci said. “It is likely that will increase as we get into the fall and winter, so we need to be prepared for it,” he speculated, adding:

“You always have to keep an open mind with this virus, it’s fooled us before.”

Despite empty – or perhaps false – promises that previous COVID vaccines would protect people from the virus, Facui promoted the new “updated” mRNA shots that were approved by the FDA on Monday.

“We’re going to have boosters available shortly, within a week or two, hopefully before the end of September. That’s an XBB1 booster, which is going to be pretty well matched to the kinds of viruses that are now circulating,” he said.

In June 2021, Fauci proclaimed: “It’s as simple as black and white. You’re vaccinated, you’re safe. You’re unvaccinated, you’re at risk. Simple as that.”

Additionally, Fauci downplayed  concerns of serious heart issues and mysterious sudden deaths linked to COVID-19 vaccines.

“It’s a safe vaccine. Of course, with the mRNA there’s a very, very, very low risk – particularly in young men – of getting myocarditis,” he said. “But if you look at the risk of myocarditis… COVID itself is greater than the risk of the vaccine.”

DO MASKS WORK?

Karl also asked Fauci about studies that demonstrate the ineffectiveness of masks.

“Some of the studies, they’re confusing,” he said. “People have commented on the [Cochrane Review] saying ‘Absolutely, masks don’t work’ – which is absolutely not the case.”

Dr. Tom Jefferson is the Oxford epidemiologist who authored the Cochrane Library study that showed mask wearing is not an effective means of slowing the spread of COVID. Cochrane Reviews are widely considered the “gold standard” of clinical study analysis.

“I can only tell you what the science is. I can't tell you whether they work or don't work,” Jefferson told CNN last week. “But it's more likely than not that they don't work.”
