NAPLES, FLORIDA — Congressman Byron Donalds (R-Florida) is endorsing Donald Trump over Governor Ron DeSantis for President in 2024.
“There is only one leader at this time in our nation’s history who can seize this moment and deliver what we need – to get us back on track, provide strength and resolve, and Make America Great Again,” Donalds wrote in a statement. ABC’s Rachel Scott first reported the news on Thursday.

Donalds, who has quickly become a nationally recognized conservative and one of Florida’s most popular political figures, campaigned on a pro-Trump platform in 2020 and secured an endorsement from the president in the process. He has remained loyal to Trump over the past three years and voted against certifying the 2020 presidential election results.
DIVIDING LINES DRAWN
Donalds and DeSantis have been friendly with one another in the public, but the highly anticipated race between the governor and former president is prompting high-profile Republicans to pick their preferred candidate for 2024.
Donalds’ announcement comes less than 24 hours after U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Kentucky) said he would prefer to see DeSantis in the White House in 2024. Last week, Chip Roy (R-Texas) also endorsed the governor.
Meanwhile, U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida) insists Trump is the best candidate for the job.
