The polling is starting to shift to the conservative side, and Republicans have taken the lead in votes cast. Some voters may be asking themselves, “why do I need to vote? This election is over.” Let’s be very clear; every Republican needs to vote in this election and drag as many of our right-leaning friends with them.
This election is about more than just re-electing a governor and electing a full Republican cabinet; it’s a referendum on the Free State of Florida. During the COVID lockdowns, Governor DeSantis took Florida in a different direction and opened the state back up quickly. Without this bold leadership, there would have been no data set on what happens if you don’t lock down. Florida gave many areas of the country the proof that we did not need to continue to live in a mask and lockdown world.
It almost wasn’t that way, though. Governor DeSantis beat Andrew Gillum by around 30,000 votes. Can you imagine what Florida would have looked like if Mr. Gillum had been elected? We most certainly would have had the ridiculous COVID policies of New York.
President Biden and his administration spend a massive amount of time attacking Governor DeSantis and Florida. On the eve of the botched retreat from Afghanistan, the last call Joe Biden made before leaving the White House wasn’t to a general or the secretary of state; it was to the superintendent of schools in Broward to thank them for fighting the governor on masks. They do this because Florida flips the narrative the Democrats try to sell. Here in Florida, we have low taxes, a vibrant economy and unemployment much lower than the national average.
We have to use this election to send a message to those around the country that we resoundingly support the job that Governor DeSantis and our Republican leaders have done and give them significant electoral victories.
So, if your conservative-leaning friends think this election is over, tell them we need them to go vote on election day, and that it is time to send a loud and clear message that Florida is Free, and we like it that way!
