JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA — First Coast News reporter Atyia Collins was caught on a hot mic while covering Governor DeSantis’ press conference at Kenworth’s truck factory in Jacksonville.
Chatting with a fellow journalist before the start of the press conference, Collins said:
“My job here is to ask the tough questions and make him uncomfortable, I guess,” referring to Governor DeSantis.
“You go for it,” her colleague replied.
“I’mma try. I’mma try to at least get one,” Collins then said.

At the end of the press conference, Collins got her chance and asked the governor:
“We have seen bookshelves in schools empty in response to Florida’s new guidelines on books. I wonder–”
DeSantis quickly cut her off, stating that the video that Collins based her question on was a “fake narrative.
