JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA — A coalition of Left-wing advocacy groups kicked off a two-week bus tour across the Sunshine State on Sunday called “Stay Woke Florida.”
The Florida NAACP, the Transformative Justice Coalition and the Rainbow PUSH Coalition are the three organizations driving the bus across the Sunshine State.
The tour hits Jacksonville on Monday and stops in 14 cities across Florida over the next week.
The Stay Woke Florida website details recent “dangerous” legislation enacted in Florida, including the Stop W.O.K.E. Act, the Parental Rights in Education Act and bans on discriminatory “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” practices and the teaching of Critical Race Theory (CRT) in public schools.
“HARMFUL CONSERVATIVE VIEWS”
The Stop W.O.K.E. Act – short for “Stop Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees” – targets the Left’s “intersectionality” and CRT dogmas that view certain genetic races or genders as inherently oppressors or victims. Passed in 2022, the law bans businesses and schools from forcing these views upon employees and students.
The Parental Rights in Education Act prohibits classroom instruction on sexual orientation or gender identity in kindergarten through grade 3. Opponents labeled it “Don’t Say Gay.”
The activists also object to the state prohibiting public colleges and universities from spending tax dollars on “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” initiatives or other educational programs that teach CRT.
Stay Woke Florida argues these laws prevent “diverse, comprehensive education” and argues CRT and intersectionality are necessary views.
The website goes on to denounce the governor’s appointing of six new board members tasked with reviving New College of Florida. The activists assert that journalist and board member Chris Rufo is an “openly radical Republican” who shares “harmful conservative views.”
