UNITED STATES — A growing national coalition called The Eight-Year Alliance has formed to help propel Ron DeSantis to the White House. The group of more than 100 former Trump officials said DeSantis is “a proven winner” and an accomplished leader who “does what he says.”
Concerns have grown that former President Donald Trump would immediately become a lame-duck president given his polarizing style of politics. According to Fox News, the group said Republicans must get behind the candidate who has the best chance of winning two consecutive terms.
Alliance members include former Senior Advisor to the Secretary of Commerce James Uthmeier and former Principal Deputy General Counsel at the Department of Commerce David Dewhirst – who both now work for Governor DeSantis in official advisory roles.
Former Acting Associate Attorney General Jesse Panuccio, former Special Assistant to the Secretary of Defense Will Bushman and former Counselor to the Secretary and White House Liaison at the Department of Labor Pedro Allende have also signed on.
Members of the alliance said they are proud of their service in the Trump administration but are now “wholeheartedly” backing DeSantis – who is expected to officially enter the race this week.
