Ninety Percent of Florida Sheriffs Endorse Ron DeSantis

TAMPA, FLORIDA — Today, 60 Florida Sheriffs endorsed Governor Ron DeSantis for President of the United States – that’s 90 percent of the sheriffs maintaining law and order in the Sunshine State.

“A BACKBONE OF BLUE”

At an assembly of Florida sheriffs’ and law enforcement supporters in Tampa today, Attorney General Ashley Moody told the crowd that when she was first elected alongside Governor DeSantis in 2018, they witnessed the country descending into chaos.

“If you look at the list of the law enforcement leaders across the state of Florida that have come out strong for Governor DeSantis, they are Republicans, they are Democrats, they are Independents – but they know he is the leader,” Moody said.

“This nation needs to ensure we have a backbone of blue and stability throughout the United States of America,” Moody added.

LAW AND ORDER

To applause, Governor DeSantis told stories about his recent trip to California where businesses fled once-thriving cities and moved to Florida to escape radical Leftist policies.

“This country needs to take a page out of Florida’s playbook,” DeSantis said. “When it comes to law and order, we need law and order in this country more than ever.”

“It matters to have a governor like I’ve been and it will matter to have a president in the United States, like I will be, who will stand up and defend the people that wear the uniform – the law enforcement community.

THE FLORIDA MODEL

In January, DeSantis and Moody announced a proposal to maintain and further improve Florida’s 50-year record-low crime rate. Florida’s legislature later passed a package of laws that blocked the abolishment of cash bail, increased penalties for drug-related crimes, stepped up human smuggling interdictions, allowed the death penalty for child rapists and prevented the early release of sex criminals.

“Governor DeSantis has stood with us and listened to our challenges and has said very boldly, ‘We are going to protect our citizens,’” said Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey. “All you have to do is look at the performance of Governor Ron DeSantis and you know that we need him to take the Florida model to the nation.”

The majority of Florida’s sheriffs endorsed DeSantis during his gubernatorial campaign in 2022, but conservatives in the state have been split on whether to endorse the governor or former President Donald Trump.

Although both candidates have promised to restore law and order, DeSantis is the only one who removed two Soros-backed federal prosecutors in Florida – Andrew Warren in Hillsborough County and Monique Worrell Osceola-Orange County.
