ORLANDO, FLORIDA — The Orlando Magic, an NBA basketball team sponsored by Walt Disney World, donated $50,000 to Never Back Down, the super PAC supporting Ron DeSantis for president.
Currently, the professional basketball team displays a 2.5 by 2.5 inch Disney logo on the front of their uniform as part of a multi-year agreement.
But according to records from the Federal Election Commission (FEC), the donation made by the team on June 26 to support Ron DeSantis is the team’s largest political donation ever.
In 2005, the Magic donated $500 to a Democratic House campaign, in 2014, the team donated $2,000 to Maverick PAC USA and in 2016 $500 to Conservative Results.
Richard DeVos, the father-in-law of Trump’s former Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, owns Orlando Magic. Team Chairman Dan DeVos, Betsy’s brother-in-law, donated hundreds of thousands this year to the National Republican Congressional Committee.
