Ron DeSantis Secures Second Term as Florida Governor

“We've achieved so much in the past four years for Florida, and we've only just begun. Together, we will Keep Florida Free!” said Governor Ron DeSantis.

TAMPA, FLORIDA — Tonight, Governor Ron DeSantis secured a second term as the Sunshine State’s governor crushing Democrat Charlie Crist. Republican voters turned out in massive numbers statewide. The governor and First Lady Casey DeSantis celebrated the win at the Tampa Convention Center.

DeSantis’ re-election campaign knocked on two million individual doors across Florida less than one week before Election Day. In addition, campaign staff and volunteers made contact with an unprecedented amount of voters through media, events, and state tours by the governor and first lady.

“We are seeing such overwhelming enthusiasm because of the policy accomplishments we’ve been able to deliver for the people of Florida,” DeSantis said. “We have ensured parental rights in education, provided the largest tax relief package in state history, kept our communities safe, and restored our Everglades and natural resources. We’ve achieved so much in the past four years for Florida, and we’ve only just begun. Together, we will Keep Florida Free!”

DeSantis, a native Floridian with blue-collar roots, worked his way through Yale University, where he graduated with honors. Later, he attended Harvard Law School, earning a commission in the U.S. Navy as a JAG officer. After graduating from Harvard with honors and serving in the U.S. Navy, DeSantis was a federal prosecutor. He was elected to Congress in 2012, representing Florida’s sixth district.

“Tonight’s resounding victory shows that Floridians care about the Everglades. DeSantis is America’s Everglades Governor, and I look forward to working with his administration to continue the tremendous progress we’ve made advancing the world’s largest ecosystem restoration project,” Anna Upton, CEO of the Everglades Trust told The Florida Standard.
