These 10 Florida-Based Lobbying Firms Have Made the Most Money so far in 2023

TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA — Lobbying is full-time work for Tallahassee’s influential voices. Here are some of the Capital City’s biggest money-makers in Florida lobbying:

• The Southern Group – Known as Florida’s top lobbying earners led by founder Paul Bradshaw. The firm saw nearly $8 million in revenue during the three-month span of April 2023 through June 2023.
• Ballard Partners – Founded in 1998 and led by Brian Ballard. Saw over $7.5 million in revenue in Q2. In 2018, POLITICO dubbed Brian Ballard “The Most Powerful Lobbyist in Trump’s Washington.” Ballard Partners not only operates out of Tallahassee, but are well-known in Washington, D.C., and even have international offices in Tel Aviv, Israel and Istabul, Turkey.
• Capital City Consulting – Founded by Nick Iarossi, Ron LaFace, Gerald Wester, and Pat O’Connell. They saw $6.3 million in revenue during the previous quarter. They operate and have offices strictly in Florida.
• GrayRobinson – Founded by Dean Cannon, they brought in $3.2 million in Q2 earnings. In 2022, they brought in a total of nearly $11 million.
• Ronald L. Book PA – A small lobbying operation led by Ronald L. Book with Rana Brown, Kelly Mallette, and Gabriela Navarro is lobbyists. They have brought in a total of approximately $3 million. Book’s daughter is Minority Leader in the Florida Senate, Sen. Lauren Book.
• Holland & Knight – Primarily a law firm, but also has a governmental advocacy branch with its most notable lobbyist as former Florida Gov. Bob Martinez. So far in 2023, they had a lobbying revenue as high as $500,000.
• Liberty Partners of Tallahassee – Headed up by Jennifer Green with lobbyists including: Ethan Merchant, Tim Parson, and Adam Potts. In 2023, they had a revenue range of $200,000 - $500,000..
• Corcoran Partners – Founded by Michael and Jessica Corcoran over twenty years ago, they have a large team spanning four offices across Florida in Tallahassee, Tampa, Miami, and St. Petersburg. According to public lobbying records, they have had approximately $2 million in revenue in 2023.
• Floridian Partners - Owned by Charles F. Dudley and his team of lobbyists, their revenue bracket as a firm was reported to have been between $1,000,000 – $2,000,000 in 2023.
• Metz, Husband, & Daughton - The firm operates out of one office in Tallahassee headed up by Stephen Metz, Warren Husband, and James Daughton. In 2023, they approximately raised $2 million in revenue, according to lobbyist public records filings.
