Trump Responds to Putin’s Comments on His Criminal Cases, 2024 Election

The Russian leader said that the former U.S. president was the victim of political persecution and decried what he called “the bestial visage of American imperialism.”

MOSCOW, RUSSIA — Russian President Vladimir Putin thinks the criminal charges brought against Donald Trump constitute political “persecution.”

“Given today’s conditions, what is happening is good for us, in my opinion, because it shows the rottenness of the American political system, which cannot pretend to teach democracy to others,” Putin said on Tuesday, according to the New York Times.

“Though they accused him of special ties to Russia, it was complete nonsense, total bullshit, and he more than anything imposed sanctions on Russia.”

“So, what to expect in the future, regardless of who is president, is difficult to say,” the Russian President continued. “But it’s unlikely anything will change definitively, because the current government has configured American society in such an anti-Russian manner and spirit.”

“As they said back in Soviet times, ‘the bestial visage of American imperialism, the bestial grin,’” Putin added.

Prominent Republicans – including Mike Pence, Lindsey Graham and Chris Christie – denounced Putin’s comments, while Trump himself used the occasion to bash President Biden.

“It’s all happening, even worse than anyone projected,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on Wednesday.

“President Vladimir Putin of Russia is using Crooked Joe Biden’s illegal Banana Republic style treatment of his Political Opponent, who is beating him badly in the Polls, to condemn America and all of the good things it once stood for. The whole World is watching as the USA is being torn apart by dreams of Election Interference!”
