Trump Supporters Taunt DeSantis for “Out of Touch” Campaign Launch

The MAGA Inc. spokesperson also cited a misleading claim that DeSantis voted to cut Medicare and Social Security during his term in Congress.

MIAMI, FLORIDA — Today is Ron DeSantis’ expected presidential campaign launch and pro-Trump supporters are already trashing the governor’s choice of venue before he even shares his plans.

“This is one of the most out-of-touch campaign launches in modern history,” MAGA Inc. spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said in a statement. “The only thing less relatable than a niche campaign launch on Twitter is DeSantis’ after party at the uber elite Four Seasons resort in Miami.”

The Florida Standard revealed yesterday that DeSantis will make his big announcement tonight at 6:00 pm during a conversation with Elon Musk on Twitter Spaces. The announcement coincides with a briefing to top supporters at the Miami hotel this week.

In contrast, Trump was banned from the platform in January 2021. Musk reinstated Trump’s account last November but the billionaire, known for lavish parties and political announcements at his Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, has yet to return.

This month, Search Logistics reported that Truth Social had around 2 million active daily users, compared to Twitter’s 237.8 million active daily user base. Trump’s following of 4.59 million on Truth Social is a fraction of his restored Twitter account with 86.4 million followers.

According to Newsweek, Trump has an exclusivity deal with Truth Social – the platform he helped create. He is required to first share all his social media communications on Truth Social and “may not make the same post on another social media site for 6 hours,” according to SEC filings.

However, the outlet reports that Trump may not re-sign the deal, which expires in June, allowing him to post whatever he wants on Twitter or Facebook first, making Truth Social redundant.

The MAGA Inc. spokesperson also cited a misleading claim that DeSantis voted to cut Medicare and Social Security during his term in Congress.

“Every day more and more Americans are realizing just how out of step Ron DeSantis is with their values and how unelectable he really is,” Leavitt said. “Ron DeSantis just isn’t ready to be President. President Trump is ready on day one to turn our country around, reverse Biden’s disastrous policies and make America great again.”
