Trump’s Broken Promises – The DeSantis Download: September 27, 2023
What’s up next for Ron DeSantis?
Donald Trump is leading in the polls for the Republican nomination – and tonight, his challengers have to show the American people why one of them should lead the nation instead of the former president.
It is likely that several of the candidates will bring up Trump’s broken promises – the bold pledges that were never realized during his time in the White House.
Trump was going to “drain the swamp” – yet empowered and surrounded himself with high-level officials who had the opposite objective. He was going to build the border wall and make Mexico pay for it. Only 52 miles of wall were finished during his tenure.
He was going to appoint a special counsel to investigate Hillary Clinton’s alleged crimes – her secret email server and her role in what happened in Benghazi. But Trump changed his mind not long after the 2016 election – even admitting that this was just something you say during a campaign.
Ron DeSantis says he really wanted Trump to appear at tonight’s debate so he could press him on these broken promises – the same pledges the Florida governor says Trump is running on today.
On Monday, DeSantis accused the mainstream media of trying to “juice a narrative” with recent polls placing Trump ahead of Biden by ten points. But Trump, campaigning in South Carolina on Monday, said his opponents are “wasting a lot of time with these ridiculous debates that nobody’s watching.”
Will DeSantis directly attack Donald Trump tonight? With the first primary ballots set to be cast by Iowans in January, tonight is DeSantis’ chance to fire at the former president before a large audience in hopes of consolidating Republicans around him as the single alternative to Trump.
The second Republican primary debate will be held tonight at 9:00 pm ET at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, CA.
On Thursday, Ron DeSantis will be interviewed by Dana Perino and Bill Hemmer on Fox News’ America’s Newsroom in the 10 am ET hour.
Here is everything you need to know about what is happening in DeSantis World today.
