According to law enforcement, the altercation began when Kevhani Camilla Hicks – who goes by the rapper name “Key Vhani” – and two men were in a white sedan together.
Hicks and one of the men reportedly started arguing near the open trunk of the vehicle.
Minutes later, the dispute got physical as Hicks and the man began hitting each other.
The second man then got out of the vehicle and both men can be seen overpowering Hicks, including one of the men slamming Hicks to the ground.
At this point, all trio begin to separate and video footage shows Hicks walking away from the vehicle and the men.
Hicks then returned to where the incident began – this time with a firearm. She appears to shoot one of the men, who police say was her manager.
The man was hit, collapsed in the street, and later died from his injuries.
After hearing and seeing the gunshots, the second man fled to the driver’s seat of the sedan. While escaping the scene driving the vehicle, he ran over Hicks with the car.
“The defendant stated she was in fear due to the victim’s size and upon hearing the victim yell ‘I’ll kill you with one hit,’” the police report stated. Hicks contends that the altercation was a “clear case of self-defense.”
The rapper took to Instagram, saying she appreciates her fans and “I’m not the horrible person some are claiming that I am.”
Not all her followers showed support, however. Some of the comments on her post included: “Enjoy prison,” “I really feel bad for you,” and “Your a** going to prison.”
